A stolen laptop computer contained personal information for 43,000 consumers of the District Five Area Agency on Aging is still being sought.

It was taken last week from a case manager's car as it was parked at the library in downtown Mansfield.

Agency Director Duana Patton says it would be difficult for someone to hack into the computer because it requires two passwords.

But in case someone does access the information, the agency is notfying the people whose names, addresses, health information, and in some cases social security numbers, are in the computer.

Letters are being sent advising affected individuals of credit protection options available to them.

And, Patton says steps are being taken to prevent this from happening again.  All of the Agency on Aging's computers have been encrypted to add a layer of protection, and laptops will never be left in cars again.

It has not been determined if this employee will face discriplinary action.
