Man charged with stealing items from elementary school

An 18-year-old Thomasville man was charged with breaking into an elementary school and
stealing nearly $7,000 worth of computers, money and other equipment, the sheriff's office said today.

Derek Alan Hunt, of 4 Eagle Drive, was charged with breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, according to the Davidson County Sheriff's Office.

He was being held in the Davidson County Jail under a $10,000 secured bond.

According to the sheriff's office, Hunt broke several windows,
went through several classrooms and offices and stole computers, money, speakers and a mixing console.

The value of the property was $6,789 while damage was estimated at $1,200, according to the sheriff's office.
