According to a recently published Los Angeles Police Department press release, five suspects who posed as Los Angeles police officers robbed residents by tying them up and stealing their money and property.
The incident happened on Monday around 9 a.m. The five suspects approached on of the residents, a 40-year-old Hispanic man, on the 8600 block of Sharp Avenue in the city of Los Angeles. Dressed as police officers, they ordered the 40-year-old man back into his residence at gunpoint.
Once all of the suspects were inside, they tied up the man, a 33-year-old woman, and two children, ages 10 and 11. Inside the house, they stole a plasma TV, some money, computers and a microwave oven.
Once they left the residence, they also stole the man's vehicle, a black 4-door 1996 Nissan Maxima, with the license plate number of 4RIF738.
The man and the other victims who were tied up in the residence described the suspects as Hispanic males between 40 and 50 years of age who were well dressed. The suspects were also driving a vehicle that was described as a brown 1984 or 1985 Chevy full size van. The van also had two 10 inch orange stripes down the sides and had a rear ladder attached to the back of it.
