Attorney General John Ashcroft and U.S. Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan this week announced the creation of a new computer crime unit at the U.S. attorney's office in Pittsburgh.
The Computer Hacking and Intellectual Property program, one of many around the country, will focus on trademark violations, theft of trade secrets, computer intrusions and similar crimes.
Prosecutors assigned to the unit also are supposed to develop public awareness programs and provide training for other prosecutors and law enforcement agencies.
The latest expansion includes Pittsburgh, the District of Columbia, Sacramento, Nashville and Orlando
