AUSTRALIA COMPUTERS STOLEN FROM NATIONAL DISASTER AND EMERGENCY SERVICES OFFICESViewpoint
A FEW red faces at the Somare Foundation Building yesterday when a high-powered Australia Government delegation led by Aussie High Commissioner Michael Potts got caught short of a floor in a faulty lift. The group was coming down to the ground floor but the lift did not stop at the exact floor. The doors had to be pried open by security guards and others who found the group standing just on eye level where they were supposed to have exited! Everyone above them chipped in to pull the fully suited gents out of the lift!

DO we expect our Foreign Affairs Office to apologise over the incident today? Incidently, the ground floor is where the National Disaster and Emergency Services Office has its headquarters. That office got broken into on Sunday night and its computers stolen! The disaster floor?*
NCD police boss Tony Wagambie should check on a certain cop at Hohola Police Station who has a habit of confiscating driver’s licences from unsuspecting motorists. We’re told he returns them for a fee. Is this a legal traffic fine?

ORGANISERS of the Miss PNG Red Cross Charity Queen be aware of this in the future; if you are inviting the G-G, make sure you are there 30 minutes before his arrival. Our G-G makes a point of arriving on time. On Saturday night, at the crowning ball, he arrived at exactly 6.30pm, the time slated for guest arrivals. He had been there over an hour before guests filled up the tables.

MEDIA representatives are still peeved about last week’s ExxonMobil dinner announcement in downtown. They were kept outside the dinner and herded in just after proceedings got started to listen to the program for the evening. Then they were ushered out. Thirty minutes later, they were again herded in — for the speeches. Then they were ushered out again! Scribes didn’t expect dinner, just to be allowed the dignity to do their job.
