Published on 18 January 2005
POLICE are appealing for help in tracking a burglar who hid his spoils before returning later.

Officers were at the scene when he returned - but the offender threw the computer he had stolen at them before running off.

A witness noticed a youth crouching in the yard of a property in Histon Road, Castle, Cambridge, at about 2.15pm on Saturday.

He ran off, but the witness saw a window had been broken. Closer inspection revealed the property was untidy and appeared to have been broken into.

Police attended and found a computer hidden in a nearby wheelie bin.

They monitored the scene and the offender returned at 7pm.

However, when police went to stop him he threw the computer towards them and fled down Cemetery Street and Canterbury Street before escaping.

The offender is described as aged 14-17, 5ft 7in, slim and with dark eyebrows. He was clean- shaven and wearing a white baseball cap, a dark top and dark trousers.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0845 4564564.
