Break-ins continue in region
Dan Rosenburg
Private homes or business addresses : Break-in artists in the South-West region don't seem to be making much of a distinction between the two. Both types of establishments were broken into and relieved of some of their worldly goods last week.
Overnight Feb. 10-11, an esthetician's studio on St. Joseph Blvd. in Mercier saw its petty cash supply drained when thieves broke a lock and entered the building.
During the weekend two suspects forced open the door at a business enterprise at 160 Edgar Hébert street in Beauharnois. They made off with six computers and a flat screen.
Between Feb. 9-11, perpetrators gained entry to a house on St. Laurent street in Maple Grove by breaking two windows. Chateauguay police are still trying to ascertain exactly what, if anything, was stolen.
And on Feb. 12, Frechette street residents in Chateauguay discovered on their return home that their dwelling had been broken into by thieves during their absence. Musical instruments and computers had been removed from the premises.
Another suspected break-in artist was stymied when he ascertained that someone was inside the house he was allegedly trying to break into. The suspect fled. He is described as being a white male in his mid-30s, standing 5'10" and weighing a mere 115 pounds.
Anyone with information about any of these cases is asked to call Chateauguay police at 698-3230.
