A laptop computer stolen from the trunk of a state auditor's car contains sensitive financial and personal information about more than 800 people.

The computer contained unemployment insurance reports from 65 Seattle-area companies, which were being audited by the state Employment Security Department, according to a news release.

The reports include the names, Social Security numbers and earnings information for 826 people who were employed by the companies at the time their audits were conducted, which ranged between November 2004 and October 2005.

The state has set up a Web page with a link to the list of 65 companies.

The department doesn't have contact information for the affected people, so it has begun notifying the 65 companies, according to the release.
