SOUTH AFRICA COMPUTERS STOLEN BY GUARDS IOL: Stolen goods found at guards' homes:

"Three security guards alleged to have stolen computers from an office they were guarding appeared in the Benoni magistrate's court on Tuesday, East Rand police said.

The three, who face charges of burglary, perjury and defeating the ends of justice, were remanded for seven days to allow for further investigations, said police spokesperson Superintendent Eugene Opperman.

The computers were found at the homes of the three security guards on Monday - the day of their arrest.

The computers valued at R60 000 were stolen during the weekend at the offices of the department of social development in Benoni - where the three guards happened to be on duty."

"The security guards alleged that they had been attacked by four armed men. They alleged that the attackers had broken a window to gain access to the building where they stole several computers," said Opperman.

However police were not convinced and further investigations led to the stolen computers being found at the guards' homes. - Sapa
