JAMAICA EX-SOLDIER ACCUSSED OF POSSESSING STOLEN COMPUTERS REMANDED Radiojamaica.com... today's news... today | Stolen, Police, Computers, Military, Had | Ex-soldier accused of possessing stolen computers remanded - A former soldier in the Jamaica Defen

Wednesday, 24 October 2007 Image A former soldier in the Jamaica Defence Force, who is accused of selling stolen computers to fellow soldiers, was remanded when he appeared in the Half-Way-Tree Criminal Court.

Elvis Redwood was arrested last week by military personnel who reportedly found him in possession of two stolen laptop computers.

Private Redwood was then handed over to the Matildas Corner Police and charged with unlawful possession of stolen property.

He was subsequently dismissed from the army.

In court Tuesday, the senior investigator reported that Mr. Redwood is still under investigation.

He reported that the police have received information that the accused had sold a number of stolen computers to soldiers at the military base at Up Park Camp.

It is reported that the Private had been under surveillance for sometime by the military, who had intelligence on him.

In the meantime, the police are continuing their investigation of a second soldier arrested last Thursday during a crack down on a car stealing ring.

The police reportedly raided his home in Eltham, St. Catherine and seized a Black Nissan Sunny motor car.

The soldier is scheduled to face a series of identification parades in connection with other stolen motor vehicles.
