62 laptops stolen from computer shops

Laptops and other computer accessiories worth more than Rs 30 lakh have been stolen from two shops selling computer peripherals in Secunderabad while gold ornaments weighing over 32 tolas were stolen from a house at Miyapur.
The theft took place in Info Business services and Brahmand Computers opposite the Gymkhana Grounds. Both the shops were closed at around 5 pm on Saturday in view of the huge gathering at Parade Grounds where UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi addressed a public meeting. On Monday morning, when the employees of IBS opened the shop, they found computers and accessories missing. The thieves gained entry into the shops by bending the shutters.
Thirty-seven laptops, 20 LCDs, an LCD monitor and Rs 2.50 lakh were stolen from the Info Business Services, according to a complaint by the shop owner, Vijayarama Rao, who resides at Himayatnagar.
Thieves also stole 25 Samsung laptops and three latest branded computers from Brahand Computers which is is owned by DR Bhandari, a resident of West Marredpally.
The total loss of property is estimated to be around Rs 30 lakh, police said.
At Miyapur, the house of G Seshagiri Rao, a stores manager at a private company at Balanagar, was burgled. Thieves gained entry by opening the bedroom window grills. The family had gone out on Sunday morning and returned late in the night. The thieves could lay their hands on the almirah keys and stole 32 tolas of gold.
