Anthony Murrieta, 19, and Leonardo Vasquez, 18, are charged in the theft of computers from MHS. From MPD.
Two Maricopa men were charged on multiple counts of burglary and theft June 21 after they allegedly stole more than $4,000 worth of computer equipment from Maricopa High School.
Maricopa Police were called to the high school shortly after 4 p.m. in regard to a burglary in progress. While driving to the scene, responding officers were given suspect descriptions. Upon arrival, officers observed two suspects on school grounds near a parked vehicle matching the descriptions.
School officials told investigating officers they discovered several sets of keys to school buildings and school vehicles missing. It was unlikely those keys were used during the burglary, as evidence indicated the suspects forcibly gained entry to a classroom. All stolen property, including the building keys, was recovered.
Anthony Murrieta, 19, was apprehended without incident at the scene. The second suspect, Leonardo Vasquez, 18, fled the scene on foot. After a four-hour search, Vasquez was located at his residence and taken into custody without incident. Both men were booked into Pinal County Jail.
