Computers stolen from schools Tuesday , 08 May 2012



Information has been revealed on a racket of stealing computers from schools in the Ratnapura and
Kolonna Educational Zones.


Director of the Kolonna Educational Zone R.M.A.Sarath Hemananda said that twenty four computers and computer accessories have been stolen from schools in the Educational Zone.

He further said that complaints have been lodged in this regard at the Kolonna, Embilipitiya and Panamure police stations.

The Director went onto say that computers of certain schools have been stolen within a week of their
receival.

Director of the Kolonna Educational Zone R.M.A.Sarath Hemananda added that as a result the programme
launched to impart knowledge on students in the area has been disrupted.

In an inquiry made in this regard Police Media Spokesperson SP Ajith Rohana confirmed that the said police stations have received complaints regarding the matter.

When facts were presented before Chief Minister of the Sabaragamuwa Province Maheepala Herath by News First, the Minister said that a special investigation will be carried out into the thefts today.
