Burglars steal computers from Limuru state offices
Burglars broke into government offices in Limuru district and stole six computers on Thursday. Four of the computers were stolen from the CDF office and two each from the procurement and probation offices. The doors of both offices are intact. The burglars only carried the monitors and the central processing units where the data is kept, leaving other documents intact. They also stole a thermos flask and a gas cooker from the CDF office.
The criminals did not break the main door. They instead broke the secretary’s office where keys of other rooms are kept indicating the thugs knew their way around the offices. A police officer who sought anonymity because he is not allowed to speak to the press, said: ''It appears to have been an inside job.The theft must have happened during the day as the two policemen who were on duty during the night heard nothing.'' “Basically, there was no breaking in through the doors. The doors remained intact but the person just opened them, walked in and stole the computers. So, we do not want to speculate on the matter but there was no hard theft,” said Limuru DO Andrew Imathiu.
The theft came as the CDF committee is said to have held a closed door meeting the whole of Thursday, a week after it held another with heads of departments in the district. The committee is said to be operating without a chairman for almost a year after the chairman resigned due to a disagreement between him and MP Peter Mwathi.
