GP Police Find Stolen Computers
GRANTS PASS, Ore. -- Police have located computers stolen from a local nonprofit and have arrested and released four suspects.
On Thursday, workers at United Community Action Network reported that someone had broken into their office and stole computers and equipment. United Community Action provides services to the poor, elderly and disabled.
Officers from the Grants Pass Public Safety Department received a tip on Saturday where some of the stolen items might be, according to a press release from the Grants Pass Public Safety Department.
Detectives ran a surveillance operation on a home in the 200 block of Southwest Leonard Street.
By Sunday, detectives had obtained a search warrant. They searched the home and found laptops, desktop computers, printers, monitors and other property from UCAN's office.
Police also found a small amount of methamphetamine and marijuana.
Police say they found items reported stolen in two other cases. Some of the stolen items were construction materials and electrical wiring taken from a construction site. Police also found a water heater, carpet and carpet padding that were reported stolen from a vacant home.
Three people -- Brandon Gregory Ruppel, 34, Noelani H. McDonald, 32, and Leslie Dianne Linter, 41 -- were in the home when police searched it. Police believed they were involved in the burglary.
All three were arrested. However, Grants Pass officials say they could not have the suspects lodged in the Josephine County jail because of staff reductions. They were cited to appear and released.
Police learned additional stolen property was at a second location in the 200 block of Southwest Wildwood. Detectives found equipment stolen from the UCAN office and a small amount of methamphetamine.
Detectives arrested Jason Christoper Ruppel, 38, but he was cited to appear and released because of issues at the county jail.
Grants Pass police are still investigating and have referred the charges to the Josephine County District Attorney's office.
