Robbers steal 18 computers

A gang broke into the ministries of Education and Youth Affairs and non-governmental organisation offices in Migori and stole 18 computers on Monday night. The theft is suspected to be an inside job because the doors and windows were intact.

The Education ministry lost four computers, its Youth Affairs counterpart eight and Afya Plus’ a USAID funded NGO lost six. Workers only realised that something was amiss after opening the offices in the morning and found the computers missing. Migori OCPD Alfred Makoma said police are investigating the incident, adding that no arrests have been made.

“We have so far not arrested anybody but we are already investigating guards from each department and workers to try and recover the computers and arrest the culprits,” said Alfred Makoma, the Migori police chief said.
