CAMEBRIDGE, N.Y. - A Bennington man is facing charges in New York alleging that he stole two computers from the Cambridge Central School District.
According to Cambridge-Greenwich police, Phillip E. Casey, 27, of County Street in Bennington, pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Cambridge Village Court to two counts of fourth degree grand larceny. He was sent to the Washington County Correctional Facility for lack of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
Police said Casey was employed part-time as a janitor for the school district and on two occasions in October he entered the computer lab there and took two Apple MacBook Pro computers, valued at $1,2000 each. According to police, the computers were sold or traded for drug money.
Bennington police assisted in the investigation.
