27 Computers Stolen from Nishuane School

Someone broke into the school after Hurricane Sandy knocked out its power.

More than two dozen computers were stolen from Nishuane Elementary School soon after Hurricane Sandy rolled through town.
Between Oct. 30 and 31, someone broke into Nishuane School and stole 27 iMac computers valued at $27,000, according to the Montclair School District. The school was one of many that had its power knocked out by the storm.
The school was locked and someone broke a window to enter a door, said Superintendent Penny MacCormack.
The stolen computers were used daily by students for classroom instruction.
The Montclair Police Department is leading the investigation, and the district has provided the serial numbers of all the computers in order to track them.
“We are asking that if anyone knows anything to call the [Montclair Police Department] or our hotline,” said MacCormack.
Tips can be reported to lead investigator Montclair Police Det. Charles Cunningham atccunningham@montclairnjusa.org  or (973) 509-4716, or to the Montclair Board of Education Anonymous Tip Line at (973) 509-412
