NORTH CAROLINA COMPUTERS STOLEN FROM SCHOOL heraldsun.com: Man in jail linked to new crime According to court records, Harris' criminal history includes numerous convictions for larceny and burglary.
Green said he now is accused of breaking a window with a large rock to gain access to the 400 N. Duke St. school between noon and 11 p.m. Oct. 9.
That window led to an office of the school's band room, where a computer was stolen. A thief then pried open a teacher's office door and rifled through several desk drawers, before going into a classroom, where the thief "neatly disconnected" three computers, a police report says.
In a second classroom, the thief stole another computer and the teacher's stereo, wristwatch and digital camera, the report says. The thief also stole a pair of Converse tennis shoes, size 7½, before leaving the building.
In all, Green said, the thief stole $4,480 worth of property from the school.
Harris is expected to appear at 9 a.m. today in Durham County District Court.
