ILLINOIS COMPUTER EQUIPMENT STOLEN FROM SCHOOLDaily Chronicle Online

Teen arrested in Huntley burglary

DeKALB - Police announced Friday that they had arrested a 17-year-old DeKalb resident accused of stealing computer equipment and handheld radios from Huntley Middle School.

Michael Spangler was charged with burglary, a Class 1 felony punishable by four to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to $25,000. An unnamed second suspect also allegedly involved in the burglary, which was discovered Jan. 6, was referred to juvenile law enforcement authorities. Police did not say if that person had been charged with a crime.

Stolen from the middle school, located on Taylor and Seventh streets, were two laptop computers, a computer monitor and two handheld radios. All of the stolen items have been recovered, police said.

Spangler was being held Friday at the DeKalb County Jail on $5,000 bond.

A detective with information on the case was not available to comment this morning
