Despite increased attention to security since 9-11, confidential federal documents are sometimes lost, stolen or mishandled.
The security breaches are among incidents detailed in memos obtained under the Access to Information Act.
Among the stories was a government official with Natural Resources Canada who forgot secret cabinet documents in the seat pocket of an airplane.
A computer loaded with sensitive Justice Department files was pilfered from a consultant's office.
Privy Council Office spokesman Francois Jubinville says there are no statistics on the number of breaches that take place, but he admits they do occur from time to time."
