NEW JERSEY COMPANY PRODUCT DENYS ACCESS TO DATA IF COMPUTER STOLEN Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance Journal :: News
Essential Security Software, a provider of outbound email and document security solutions, has announced that Essential Taceo version 1.6 includes Remote Laptop Security which denies access to email and documents in the event that a laptop or computer is stolen.
Essential Taceo is an email and document security rights management solution for small and midsized businesses. Taceo integrates with Microsoft® Outlook® to provide one-click content protection by applying encryption and rights management controls, enabling users to easily and securely distribute sensitive email messages and documents.
“Laptop theft is a growing problem and it can spell disaster for businesses and individuals when sensitive information is breached,” said Ray Zambroski, CEO, Essential Security Software. “Mobility is critical for today’s workers, and businesses should be aware of the risks that unsecured data on laptops can pose.” How Remote Laptop Security Works
With Taceo, users can apply encryption and rights management controls (such as do not print, do not forward etc.) to their email and documents. If a user’s laptop or computer is stolen, the user can log-in to their account from another computer and remotely deny access to all files secured with Taceo that are stored on their laptop or computer. Taceo also performs regular authentication checks to ensure the identity of the Taceo user, and requires security login if a laptop is offline before allowing access to files secured by Taceo. Companies may also use the Remote Laptop Security feature to deny access to email and files by employees who have been (or will be) terminated.
Flexible, Persistent Control
Taceo gives content authors the power to determine how recipients may use their email and documents. More than 30 common file types may be dragged and dropped into Taceo, to apply Digital Rights Management (DRM) controls that set timing rights or prevent forwarding, editing, printing. In addition, users can set expiration dates and times on email and documents, as well as set usage permissions that evolve with time. Taceo’s persistent security and control remains throughout the life-cycle of the email or document including while in storage, transit, and after it has arrived on the recipient’s desktop.
Additional Enhancements
Taceo 1.6 includes encrypted email threading enabling users to exchange threaded “Encrypt Only” email when using Outlook. Encrypted email messages are decrypted in the recipient’s Outlook message pane, enabling threaded “reply” with Taceo’s “Send Secure” turned on by default. Additional new features in Taceo 1.6 include the ability for content authors to allow recipients the right to print protected content that is displayed in the Taceo Viewer.
