Home ransacked: A man told police he was out of town between Oct. 18 and 9:30 a.m. Oct. 21. He said that when he returned, he saw the east bedroom window of his home in the 7700 block of Hood Street lying on the grass. The master bedroom had been ransacked and a 12-by-24-inch Century safe had been stolen. He said the safe contained a Presidential Rolex watch valued at $5,000, two passports and $2,400 in cash. The burglars also took an Olympus digital camera valued at $300 that was hanging on the bedroom door and a Dell laptop computer valued at $1,000 from the living room. The burglars dragged or carried the safe out the front door, where they threw a purse on the steps. The neighbors said dogs barked between 2:30 and 3 a.m. Oct. 21 but nobody saw the burglars.
