3 men arrested in series of laptop thefts
PHOENIX -
Phoenix Police have arrested three men suspected in at least 15 laptop computer thefts from coffee shops.
19-year-old Jordan Griggs, 19-year-old Shawn Thompson, and 19-year-old Camden Jernigan are facing charges including felony theft and conspiracy to commit felony theft.
Earlier this month, police began conducting surveillance on Starbucks locations throughout the valley after a series of thefts since November 2011. On May 7, they got a lead.
Officers were notified of a suspicious vehicle and realized it matched the suspect vehicle in several of the laptop thefts. They tracked it to an apartment complex and over the next few days, observed three suspects drive to various Starbucks shops and "case" the stores.
Griggs, Thompson, and Jernigan were arrested on May 10. In an orchestrated event with one in the car and one holding open the door, police reported they observed Thompson snatch a victim's computer right from under his fingertips.

Thompson and Griggs then ran into the waiting vehicle, with Jernigan at the wheel, according to police.
A traffic stop was initiated on the suspect vehicle and they were taken into custody without incident. The laptop was returned to the victim.
Police are going over prior laptop thefts to make sure if the suspects are indeed responsible in those incidents.
