A CPU, a monitor, a printer and a USB device with important information were stolen from the office of a superintendent of police (SP) of the Special Branch on Monday.
Police said the office, which is located in the Jamshed Quarters area, was of SP Shahid Mehsar and the robbed equipment contained records of joint interrogation reports, reports on prominent targeted killers, terrorists, and other sensitive material.
When SP Shahid reached his office early on Monday morning, he found that his office’s window was open, and his computer and USB device were missing. However, when the five security staffers on night duty, including three police constables, were called in, they said no suspicious activity had taken place during their shift.
Sources said the five had been taken into custody by the Special Branch for further questioning. An FIR has not been lodged, as the Special Branch plans to carry out an investigation on its own.
