PALO ALTO, Calif.—An off-duty Facebook security guard and another man have been arrested for stealing 49 laptop computers at the company's former California headquarters.
Palo Alto police say 20-year-old Brandon Simon and 21-year-old Travis Calhoun were arrested early Tuesday after a private security guard spotted the men taking computers from the building.
The San Francisco Chronicle (bit.ly/QTvGks) says Brandon is an off-duty security guard who patrols the Palo Alto facility.
Police officers saw the suspects driving away in two vehicles.
The cars contained a stolen license plate, burglary tools and what police describe as bins of laptop computers belonging to Facebook.
Simon and Calhoun are in jail where they were booked for commercial burglary, grand theft, possession of stolen property and conspiracy. Simon was also booked for embezzlement and resisting arrest.
