UK COMPUTERS STOLEN Crime Spree Ruins Village Spririt (from Bucks Free Press)In the past month alone two stores in Packhorse Road have been targeted by ramraiders, with one being hit twice in two weeks and three computers in the village library were stolen.

Robbie Saunders, manager of Wine Rack, which was ramraided earlier this month, said meetings with police will be helpful for shopkeepers, adding: "CCTV is a long time coming and judging by what police say it will help. Crime was pushed to Gerrards Cross from other areas with cameras for a long time."

Traders are now waiting for police to announce dates for meetings.

Cllr Underwood admitted that police have upped patrols recently which she says is "helping." She added: "Some are more serious like the ramraids and the three computers being stolen from the library. Sometimes they smash windows for the hell of it."

Sgt Tim Cox, of Gerrards Cross police, said: "A meeting is planned with the traders, parish council and police to discuss various issues, hopefully early in February. From a police perspective, there has been an alarming upturn in smash and grab type burglaries.

"However, arrests are being made, even if I cannot provide a policeman to stand outside every shop 24 hours a day."
