AUSTRALIA COMPUTERS STOLEN FROM CULTURAL CENTERcowra.yourguide Computers stolen
Friday, 6 February 2004
The thieves of two computers that will be of little value to anyone other than the Cowra Japanese Garden and Cultural Centre have been asked to return the machines.
The theft occurred between 5.30pm Wednesday and 6.30am Thursday, the thieves first cutting a hole in the Garden fence before forcing their way into a cottage to steal the personal computers, a printer and shredder.
Cowra Tourism Manager Ruth Fagan said the computers contained financial and historical information that was necessary to access at times.
"It's very disappointing; while we can replace the computers we can't replace the information in them, she said.
"It's not valuable to anybody but us and that's what is so frustrating.
Passwords are needed to access the programs containing any financial records and the computers would not sell for a high price.
"We would appreciate it if they could bring them back or leave them somewhere for us," Ms Fagan said.
Sergeant Nick Hallett said Cowra police were seeking any information, especially from anyone who may have seen a vehicle in the area of the old tip behind the Garden or who knew of anyone who had acquired a computer overnight.
Cowra Police can be contacted on 6341 5099
