And he said £7,000 would be spent on new security measures after the store was targeted by burglars on three occasions in less than a week. CarpetRight, on Scunthorpe's Lakeside Retail Park, near Morrisons, has had a number of rugs and a computer stolen in the successive raids.

Burglars first struck at the store on Thursday, February 19, some time between 6pm and 9am the following morning.

They gained access to the shop by smashing their way through a front window and stole nine rugs, worth a total £400.

A computer used to take credit card payments, worth around £800, was also taken in the raid.
