April 24, 2004, 10:31
Suspected stolen goods worth more than R1 million were recovered following a raid in Johannesburg, a police spokesperson said today.
Superintendent Chris Wilken said following a tip-off late yesterday afternoon, police went to two properties in Marlboro Gardens and Fordsburg. They found large quantities of goods which they suspected were stolen. Among the cache were laptops, computer software, electrical appliances, electronic equipment and DVDs.
Wilken said: 'Several trucks were used by the police to transport prisoners, were used to take the goods to Johannesburg Central police station.'
He said police believed the goods had been stolen during robberies at business and residential properties in Johannesburg and Pretoria. Two men and a woman were arrested in the course of the sting. He said the possibility that they were part of a syndicate could not be ruled out. - Sapa"
