RHODE ISLAND COMPUTERS STOLEN FROM SCHOOLNews Channel 10 - News - Police Arrest Man In Thefts On University CampusBRISTOL, R.I. -- Police believe they have the culprit responsible for a string of thefts at Roger Williams University.
William Parmlee, 32, who is a janitor at the school, was arrested after a campus surveillance system allegedly showed him stealing a computer from a locked computer lab.
Police searched his house and said they found an empty safe that had been stolen from a student recreation office and various stolen cleaning equipment.
Parmlee, of East Providence, is suspected in a half-year series of thefts.
The pilfered items include laptop computers, desktop computers, a carpet cleaner and the safe, which contained $700 in cash and theater tickets when it was taken.
The thefts usually took place late at night and occurred in rooms that were locked.
Police had suspected the thief was someone who had access to the rooms.
Parmlee faces a felony charge of larceny over $500. He's scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 22.
