TOKYO, May 31, 2005 - On May 9, 2005, a personal computer used for business by an employee of Sanko Junyaku (Headquarters: Tokyo, President: Masao Jimbo), a subsidiary and co-promoter of diagnostic products of Eisai Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo, President and CEO: Haruo Naito), was found stolen, which contained personal data involving 23,444 persons. We found out that the stored data included information on 3,269 customers Eisai had provided to Sanko Junyaku.

We would like to offer our sincerest apologies to all those whom this incident may cause concern. To date there has been no report that the stolen personal data has been improperly used.

Eisai deeply regrets that this incidence has occurred and will prompt the affiliated companies or partners to whom we have provided any data to implement additional measures to improve the information management in order to prevent a recurrence.
