SHAWNEE, Kan. -- A stolen school computer has become an investigation into pornography, KMBC's Bev Chapman reported Tuesday.

On May 5, a laptop computer was stolen from a faculty member at Shawnee Mission Northwest High School, police said.

Investigators traced the stolen computer to a student in Lenexa, who was arrested.

When the computer was returned, officials discovered pornographic images.

The laptop was turned over to computer forensics investigators to determine the source of the pornography.

After the investigation is complete, the case will be turned over to prosecutors and the student could face charges.

School officials said the student could face long-term suspension or expulsion.
