MICHIGAN COMPUTERS STOLEN FROM SCHOOLWWMT - Digital Channel 3: "Thieves steal equipment, data from preschool

KALAMAZOO (NEWS 3) - Police in Kalamazoo are investigating the theft of thousands of dollars in equipment at a preschool.

At some point between Wednesday night and Thursday morning, thieves broke into the Learning Village Preschool on Kalamazoo's east side and took at least three computers and a printer. A television set was also stolen as well as some important financial records including payroll checks.

The computers also contained invaluable information on nearly 100 students enrolled in the program but no Social Security numbers.

'It's awful, it's terrible for someone to come in and steal something they'll probably sell for fifty dollars and you have all this work putting the data into the computers,' said the school's Addie Warren.

The thieves also damaged an office door and cut some telephone wires, apparently trying to silence an alarm.

The school says this is the first time something like this has happened in its 20 years."
