NEW YORK BANK'S COMPUTERS STOLEN BY EMPLOYEEBank VP accused of trying to privately sell bank's computersBINGHAMTON, N.Y. A former bank vice president has been indicted on stolen property charges after Binghamton police said he tried to sell the bank's computers on the eBay Internet auction site.
A Broome County grand jury has indicted 24-year-old Joseph Shay on two felony counts of criminal possession of stolen property.
Investigators said Shay was vice president of accounting for Partners Trust Bank when he was arrested at his downtown Binghamton office earlier this year.
Police seized six Partners Trust computers from Shay's S-U-V, which was parked in a bank lot.
Detectives said the computers had been removed from a storage building after they were taken out of use when Partners Trust laid off workers late last year.
Police said the investigation into the stolen computers was complicated, involving review of records from the eBay and other Internet sites.
