Computers stolen during Red Cross chapter break-in in Fargo
Associated Press
FARGO, N.D. - Computers, radios and other electronic gear_ but no donations for Hurricane Katrina victims - were taken during an overnight break-in at the Minn-Kota Chapter of the American Red Cross here, police said.
Police Lt. Paul Laney said an employee discovered the break-in early Wednesday.
Cindy Christensen, the chapter's director of education and training, said the donations for hurricane victims are deposited every night before the office is closed.
Workers were in the office until 11:30 p.m., and returned at 5 a.m., to find their computers gone, she said.
"It was primarily technology," she said in describing what was taken.
"We're kind of in a scramble," Christensen said at midmorning. "Some of us have laptops. We're just kind of making do."
