Vancouver, BC, October 17, 2005--(T-Net)--Absolute Software announces that as of September 30, 2005, it has surpassed a milestone of 500,000 units under subscription for its Computer Theft Recovery and Secure Asset Tracking solutions.
"We are pleased to be making such positive progress toward our primary objective of one million users by June 30, 2007," said John Livingston, Chairman and CEO of Absolute. "Our recent success is driven by a number of factors, namely our BIOS, or "Embedded", strategy, our sales achievements in the education vertical, our agreement with LoJack to market to the consumer vertical and our patent portfolio, which supports our strong competitive position."
"We've identified the Embedded strategy as one of our foremost growth drivers. To date we have signed up HP, Lenovo and Gateway as partners and we continue to work with other computer manufacturers to adopt our BIOS initiative."
Deloitte Fast 50
Absolute is also pleased to announce that it has been recognized as a 2005 Canadian Technology Fast 50 company, an annual ranking by Deloitte of the 50 fastest growing companies in Canada based on the percentage of growth from 2000-2004. This marks the third consecutive year Absolute has made the Fast 50 list.
"Making this list is a testament to the hard work our team has put forward over the past several years in establishing secure asset tracking and computer theft recovery as a new product category for computer security," added Mr. Livingston. "Our current objective is to more than double our number of subscribers in less than two years, and we believe that we have the right people, product suite, operational platform and distribution partners to achieve that goal and remain one of Canada's fastest growing companies."
About Computrace
Absolute's Computrace technology powers its Guaranteed Computer Theft Recovery and Secure Asset Tracking services. When a Computrace-enabled computer is connected to the Internet (over IP or PSTN), the Computrace software sends a silent signal to Absolute's Monitoring Center server providing its IP address or phone number to identify its physical location. For network managers, the ability to know the physical location of all computer assets at any given time is imperative. If a computer is stolen, from an enterprise or an individual, Computrace has the ability to both track down its physical location for recovery and delete sensitive data- the effectiveness of which is significantly enhanced when the Computrace software is embedded in the BIOS.
