BRITISH COLUMBIA COMPUTER STOLEN FROM SALVATION ARMY OFFICEBCNG Portals PageOct 21 2005

Surrey's Salvation Army had its office broken into this week, just as it prepares to launch its annual Christmas kettle campaign.

The glass front door at 13750 78 Ave. was smashed in at 7 a.m. Tuesday and the main computer stolen.

"It was a bit of a shock because we were just gearing up for our Christmas kettle collection," Christmas kettle co-ordinator Alan Hill said.

He said the organization, which raises funds for food hampers and holiday gifts, as well as counselling and referrals year-round, is recruiting volunteers and securing kettle locations.

Money raised during the month-long kettle campaign, which starts in November, keeps services running throughout the year, Hill said.

"It's our main fundraiser."

To volunteer for the campaign, or for information on Salvation Army, call 604-507-4860.
