NEW YORK BeCRYPT OFFERING SECURITY PROTECTION FOR COMPUTERS iAnywhere Adds Full-Disk Encryption to Afaria Security Manager to Protect Laptops and TabletsSYNOPSIS: iAnywhere joins forces with UK security firm BeCrypt to offer Afaria
Security Manager for Windows, adding to Afaria's mobile security capabilities.
The newest Afaria component allows enterprises to deploy and manage full-disk
encryption on PCs running Windows, particularly mobile laptops and tablets.

GARTNER SYMPOSIUM/ITxpo, ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
iAnywhere, a subsidiary of Sybase, Inc. (NYSE: SY), today announced from
Gartner Symposium/ITxpo 2005 the addition of Afaria Security Manager for
Windows to Afaria(R), iAnywhere's award-winning management and security
solution. iAnywhere has chosen to partner with BeCrypt, the UK's leading
encryption security company, to provide the full-disk solution necessary to
protect mobile PCs running Windows operating systems.
"We are pleased to be partnering with BeCrypt to further enhance our
security capabilities in Afaria," said Joe Owen, Vice President Engineering,
iAnywhere. "BeCrypt's sophisticated full-disk encryption has been certified
by key industry bodies, and currently protects information on computers used
by government agencies and major commercial entities throughout the world.
Security Manager for Windows rounds out Afaria's mobile security solution,
allowing enterprises to protect all their mobile devices, from PCs to
smartphones."
Security issues have become a major concern for enterprises today, whether
they are required to meet regulatory standards such as HIPAA or Sarbanes-Oxley
for information protection, or simply need to protect sensitive business and
customer information on computers used outside the headquarters. Mobile
computers, which by their very nature are constantly at risk of being lost or
stolen, pose a significant threat to corporate security.
Only full-disk
encryption can provide the level of protection required to protect against the
potential of information loss that accompanies laptop usage. Afaria's
powerful combination of management and security ensures that business can be
successful with mobility while maintaining control over critical assets and
data.
"We are excited about our partnership with iAnywhere, a company well-
respected for its expertise in the mobile device management market," said
Peter Jaco, Chief Executive Officer, BeCrypt. "iAnywhere understands the
interrelationship between management and security that is now driving the
adoption of mobile technology. As customers increasingly seek comprehensive,
integrated solutions for managing mobility, the incorporation of our
technology into Afaria creates natural synergies and a secure environment for
the mobile end user."
BeCrypt technology goes beyond file-based encryption that only protects
specific data files -- full-disk encryption ensures that all data on the
computer is secured, and protects the machine from well-known attacks and
publicly available tools designed to gain access to the machine in the absence
of a user password.
BeCrypt technology used in Afaria Security Manager for Windows is based on
the Advanced Encryption Standard algorithms with 128-bit keys and uses Secure
Hashing Algorithms SHA-256 to protect user passwords. BeCrypt's products are
widely used across UK-Government sectors, with both CESG and FIPS
certifications.
Unlike competing data protection solutions, Afaria Security Manager for
Windows does not have to be aware of the inner workings of application
execution and data storage, so the relationship between various files and
applications are irrelevant, allowing a more stable implementation. In
addition, Afaria Security Manager allows enterprises to control and secure
data through an entire network, no matter where the computing device is
located and without regard to a network connection.
