MASSACHUSETTS COMPUTERS STOLEN FROM SCHOOLEyewitness News - Computers, cash stolen from a residence hall at the MacDuffie SchoolSPRINGFIELD, Mass. A burglary at the MacDuffie School in Springfield.
Police say two burglars broke into a residence hall at the private school about 2 a-m yesterday, stealing computers, cash and other valuables from rooms while students and two staff members slept.
Springfield police Sergeant John Delaney said the thieves apparently got into Caswell Hall by tampering with an alarm system. The robbers fled only after being discovered by a student who got up to get a drink of water from the kitchen.
Delaney said the burglars made off with laptop computers, video game systems and games, cell phones, iPods, jewelry, wallets and cash.
Police say they have some suspects in mind, but so far have made no arrests.
The MacDuffie School in the Six Corners neighborhood is a private school for grades six-to-12, but only students in grades nine-through-12 reside on campus
