Computers acquired by the South African government for the offices of Pan African Parliament members have been stolen.
Monetary and financial affairs committee secretary Wycliffe Oparanya said on Monday that complaints had been raised about South Africa's apparent failure to meet its obligation of providing each office with basic furniture, a computer and telephone.
"This has not been done. We received an explanation from the South African government that some of the computers they bought were stolen."
He could not say how many computers were lost, or their value.
South Africa gave an assurance that it was replacing the stolen equipment and would have the PAP offices properly equipped for its next session in March, Oparanya told reporters in Midrand.
