One man is in jail after his drug arrest led to the discovery of more than a dozen laptop computers at a local business.
And Huntsville Police are encouraging anyone who recently bought a computer from DTM Computers to call them.
"Did I get a hot one."
This was the first thought processed in Robert Hunter's mind after he realized he might have bought a stolen laptop.
"Is it hot, did I lose my money, you know $250, when your on Social Security...that's a lot of money," said Hunter.
And many more may have lost their money as well.
Thursday morning, Huntsville Police arrested 36 year old Michael C. White on a narcotic related charge.
Investigator Larry Crocker says his arrest would lead them to a break in a massive theft ring throughout the heart of the Valley.
"There's going to be a lot of cases cleared up, it's not the end of it I'm sure, there's going to be more, but at this point we kind of win this round," said Crocker.
Wednesday afternoon, four unmarked vehicles pulled up to DTM computers on University Drive, they quickly loaded up 24 laptops, and other equipment totaling approximately $60,000.
Meanwhile, Robert Hunter sits at home and questions his computer he recently purchased from the same store.
"This was in here when I bought it, gives the fellows name that had it," said Hunter.
And with evidence stashed in the case that it could have belonged to someone else, Robert knows if he were to have his laptop stolen he would want it back as well.
"I understand these things do happen from time to time, but what's the old saying you never thought it would happen to you, well guess what it can happen to anybody," said Hunter.
Police encourage anyone who has recently bought a computer from DTM computers to contact Investigator Larry Crocker at 256-427-5044, Investigator Dave Bradford at 256-427-5466 or Investigator Dwight Hasty at 256-427-5476.
