December 26, 2005 (PORTAGE, Ind.) - Officials say a thief stole four computers containing patient information from a Portage clinic for the uninsured.
Authorities say someone broke into the Stacy McKay Education and Health Clinic at Portage High School over the weekend and stole three laptops and a desktop computer.
Jaime Rogers, a spokeswoman for NorthShore Health Centers, says the computers are vital because the doctors use them to for storing all their information.
Rogers wouldn't say whether confidential information was contained in the computer records. She said the clinic in the northwestern Indiana city provides care for the uninsured and underinsured using government funding and private donations.
