Thieves take trailer, computer cargo
By Tania E. Lopez
Plainfield police are looking for a stolen trailer that contained hundreds of desktop computers valued at more than a half million dollars.
The trailer was stolen from the parking lot of Jett Express, Inc. on Hadley Road in Plainfield sometime over the weekend. It had been scheduled to leave for Canada on Monday.
Plainfield police detective Steve Wright said the 886 computers have a wholesale value of about $700,000 and were in a trailer marked "Hurricane Relief." There was no known connection between the computers and hurricane relief efforts, police said.
Wright described the trailer as a white Stoughton trailer with a Maine license plate number 1634394.
Wright said consumers should be especially on the guard if they are offered a computer from an unauthorized dealer because the stolen computers can be traced.
A $10,000 reward is being offered to anyone who has information that can lead to an arrest or the recovery of the computers.
Anyone with information is being asked to call the Plainfield police at (317) 839-2566
