UNDERGRADUATES are being warned to look after their laptops after a spate of break-ins at student accommodation in Cambridge.

The message comes after a series of burglaries in which thieves got in through open or unsecured windows or doors.

A house in Trinity Street was broken into on last Tuesday and a laptop computer stolen.

Thieves gained entry to a house in Young Street on Monday, November 21, and took a computer and photographic equipment.

This was just a day before a house in Eilgius Street was targeted by burglars and a laptop computer taken.

Det Sgt Sam Kerr said: "Students must think about security when they leave their rooms, flats or houses. Don't leave windows open - even if you live above ground-floor level - when you go out, and lock your doors."

Cambridge colleges give safety advice to all freshers at the start of each year.
