FLORIDA COMPUTER THIEF ARRESTEDThe News-Press: Local & State
Police arrested a Cape Coral man this morning on charges he burglarized five city homes and stole about $100,000 worth of computers, guns, jewelry and other items.
Investigators believe Palermo J. Ruiz may have broken into as many as 15 more houses, said Cape police spokesman Angelo Bitsis.
Ruiz, 21, of 2306 S.E. 15th Place, No. 6, remained in police custody this morning as police typed up their paperwork and cataloged evidence.
“We’ve got a lot of work to do,” Bitsis said.
Most of the burglarized houses belonged to seasonal residents, he said.
Police arrested Ruiz after doing undercover surveillance and following him to what they think was another planned burglary, Bitsis said.
Ruiz was driving a stolen 1992 Honda Accord. Police later found the stolen items in his van, Bitsis said.
