Thieves steal Kauffman Foundation's computer equipment

StarThieves stole $60,000 worth of computer equipment from the Kauffman Foundation over the weekend. A security guard discovered the theft just before 2 a.m. Sunday.

Security cameras showed three persons breaking into the non-profit agency at 4801 Rockhill Road about 9:50 p.m. They spent more than an hour stealing computers, monitors, lap tops and flat screens. The thieves loaded the goods into a catering van parked at the foundation and drove away about 11 p.m., police said.
"We're disappointed and saddened," agency spokeswoman Wendy Guillies said Monday. "But everything is operating normally today. We had some backup equipment and we're going to go about replacing the things that were taken."

Guillies said the foundation was planning to evaluate its security structure and policies.
