MINNESOTA COMPUTERS STOLEN FROM BUSINESS AND CHURCH The Austin Daily Herald: The Newspaper That Cares About Austin: "Mid-Town, church burglar suspect charged

By Josh Verges/Austin Daily Herald

Charges were filed last week against an Austin man suspected of burglarizing and stealing a truck and other items from Mid-Town Car Wash and Christ Episcopal Church.

Darren Eugene Morrison, 20, was arrested in central Illinois early Feb. 3 after a high-speed pursuit ended in a crash, according to a Mower County District Court complaint warrant. Authorities there found items linking him to three burglaries; he has thus far been charged for two of them.

Austin police were called to Mid-Town at 8:15 a.m. Feb. 2. Someone had done $350 in damage by breaking a window in a steel door, another garage door window, and splitting an office door to gain access to the building. Reported stolen were a 2003 Chevy Silverado, a laptop computer, printer, computer checks, $30 cash and a surveillance tape, with a total estimated value of $16,980.

Police believed the burglary was an inside job. Morrison was suspected because he lived nearby, recently began working at the business, had worked on the truck and had taken the day off work.

Twenty-five minutes after the Mid-Town call, Christ Episcopal called police on another burglary. Reported stolen there were a DVD player, desktop computer"
