ASHEVILLE ? A husband and wife were in jail Friday on charges of pirating CDs and DVDs.
Ronald Levett Simmons, 38, and Fifi Davis Simmons, 35, are charged with possessing unauthorized sound and video recordings, possessing stolen computers, reproducing a counterfeit mark and possessing goods with such a mark, warrants state.

They were being held in the Buncombe County jail in lieu of $50,000 bonds.

An Asheville Police Department investigation started in October after police say they found 1,468 pirated DVDs and 498 pirated CDs in a car and apartment.

Officer Dwight Arrowood said in December that the Simmonses were creating the pirated recordings in their Erskine Street apartment with the help of a couple of computers stolen in local break-ins."
