THREE masked men kidnapped a driver from the Welcome Break near Thame while he was having a snooze in his lorry and stole £360,000 of computer equipment.

The driver's five-hour ordeal began when he pulled up into the service station off Junction 8A of the M40 at around 5.30am last Thursday. He fell asleep to have a rest after travelling all the way from his home in the Czech Republic via Dover but was woken up by the kidnappers who forced him into the sleeping compartment of his blue lorry. They kept him there while one of the men drove the vehicle all the way up the M40 to Lancashire.

At some point on the journey the lorry stopped and its contents were unloaded and stolen. On arriving at an industrial estate in Skelmersdale, Lancashire, the men set light to the cab of the lorry and ran off. The Czech driver managed to escape uninjured.
